Where is the definitive story of Shoegaze? Three books on the history of goth were released recently, but we still don’t have one on Shoegaze. I thought of attempting to write one. Maybe I still will, but in the meantime, I’m collecting as much material as I can find here.

I was there for the first wave – I saw Slowdive, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, Pale Saints, Lush, Catherine Wheel, Adorable and probably many others. I fell hard for Slowdive, and have seen them many, many times since.

I currently make music as Waves Become Wings with Andrew Padfield

We are heavily influenced by The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive and 80s era New Order. A studio based project as things stand. But you never know there could be a live gig one day.

Our name comes from a song by This Mortal Coil.

I wrote and play the music, and Andrew writes the words, top line melody and sings.

I also plays Guitar in All Living Fear, and Andrew is the singer in National Pastime.
